Hippopotamus School is a small, in-home, Montessori-based school for early learners ages 2 1/2 - 6 years old. Using Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy, we nurture children's emotional, social and academic development as we help to build their confidence and independence.
At Hippopotamus School, along with group culture and diversity lessons, we provide individual social and academic lessons catered to the child while we encourage children to be mindful and kind while growing their curiosity and desire to learn.
Hippopotamus School supports many different children's organizations by raising funds, awareness or goods while promoting inclusion and acceptance.
Organizations we have supported: The Autism Society of Greater Phoenix, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Adult Congenital Heart Association, Surprise City Firefighters Annual Toy Drive, Eve's Place, Phoenix Rescue Mission and Toys for Tots. We believe that "Love is an Action Word" and allowing our students to participate in activities devoted to showing love to their community will encourage a lifetime of giving and thoughtfulness.
"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn."
